Hi everyone! Well, it's over three months since lock down hit us and I have been beavering away. As well as continuing with my artwork, I have also been exploring digital art (I'm a complete beginner!) I've been practising my guitar, and I have taken up sewing again. I am happy to say that my family, friends and I have all stayed well and we look forward to the world opening up again, when it's safe of course. Here are some photos of some work I've completed in the last few months.
Well, it was only just under 4 weeks ago that I ran a wonderfully successful one day course in 'Drawing for Beginners'. I had eight lovely people in my studio and we had a lot of fun plus lots of drawing! Fast forward to today, and we are on lockdown due to the COVID-19 virus. My twice weekly art club is suspended, the open house event will not be taking place, and the art and craft fairs I was planning to sell at have been cancelled too. In these very difficult times, I hope everyone will stay well and safe and I very much look forward to creating more art with you in the near future.
Last weekend (8th and 9th February) saw the launch of an exhibition at Clarkes on Bond Street in Brighton. I am one of several artists who will be exhibiting from now until 1st April.I have 10 of my paintings on display plus a selection of my hand painted bottle lights. There is a lovely group of artists sharing the space for the next couple of months and a really eclectic mix of styles and products. As well as paintings, drawings and prints you will find cards, cushion covers, clothing, knitted work, to name but some. Clarkes is at no. 11 Bond Street and is just off the North Street end, where the bus stops are. The gallery is on the first floor. Do take a look if you are nearby as there is a lot to see!
Well, what a great experience we had opening up Steephill Studio and Gallery for 3 weekends in a row in December. Lots of lovely people came by to visit and I shared my space with four other artists who produced stunning work. It was lovely to meet so many local people and I secured 8 sign ups for my beginners drawing course as well as selling paintings, bottle lights, cards, key rings and a lamp on behalf of all five artists.
The Glass painting course on 6th July was so much fun! We had a lovely group, including the most well-behaved 10 year old I have ever met. Everyone enjoyed themselves and I had the best day ever! We painted sun catchers in the morning and tea light holders in the afternoon. I managed to fit in baking them all so that the paint was set properly before my lovely group took home their creations. The next glass painting course is 5th September and I can't wait!
Well what a fabulous day we had at the open house on June 22nd. Lots of lovely people came, and they were so interesting and engaging. The people of Saltdean are some of the nicest you will find anywhere - so friendly and with such a strong community spirit! I was very happy to meet lots of the local people and delighted to find out how many share the love of art and creativity that I have. Thank you Saltdean, I look forward to many more open houses and meeting many more of you!
I am so excited! The finishing touches are happening to my new art studio and gallery, due to be launched with an open day on Saturday 22 June 2019! I can't wait to hang my paintings and set up my studio - it's on the first floor of my home, with stunning views of the sea and lots of light. I am also running a glass painting course on 6 July - there are still a few places if anyone is interested - contact me by email at firstname.lastname@example.org
